Start Dates for Fall 2023:

• Pre-K and K Tee Ball: Practice & play begins on Saturday, September 9th
• Coach Pitch, Machine Pitch, Rookies, Minors, Majors, Intermediate, Juniors and Seniors practices begin the week of September 3rd; games begin on September 9th

Baseball programs are open to boys and girls ages 4- to 16-years-old. Through the game, we teach life lessons in leadership, perseverance, discipline, sportsmanship and teamwork. Our programs are open to players of all skill levesl; in some cases we evalaute players abilities for placement, but there are no cuts.  

We offer the following divisions and levels of play:

Pre-K Tee Ball: 4-year-olds (as of August 31, 2024 for fall 2023 season)
Pre-K Tee Ball introduces players to team sports and the game of baseball; the program teaches basic rules, sportsmanship, and the value of teamwork. Batters hit off of a stationary tee – each player bats every inning, outs are not recorded, and a game score is not kept. Above all else, the focus is on fun and socialization. Every effort is made to form Pre-K Tee Ball teams based on the school players attend. team rosters are posted on the PLL site in mid-April. Pre-K Tee Ball teams meet each Saturday during the season for practice and a game (one combined session).

• Spring: Pre-K Tee Ball teams meet each Saturday during the season for practice and a game (one combined session).
• Summer: Pre-K Tee Ball teams meet each Wednesday evening during the season for practice and a game (one combined session).
• Fall: Pre-K Tee Ball teams meet each Saturday during the season for practice and a game (one combined session).

​Kindergarten Tee Ball: 5-year-olds (as of August 31, 2024 for fall 2023 season)
Kindergarten Tee Ball introduces players to team sports and the game of baseball; the program teaches basic rules, sportsmanship, and the value of teamwork. • Fall: Kindergarten Tee Ball teams meet each Saturday afternoon during the season for practice and a game (one combined session).

Coach Pitch: 6-year-olds (as of August 31, 2024 for fall 2023 season)
Coach pitch introduces hitting pitched balls. Players will learn basic field set up and positioning, base running, and common game situations. Coach Pitch is an instructional division – each player bats every inning, outs are not recorded, game scores are not kept and there is not a winning or losing team. Every effort is made to form Coach Pitch teams based on the school players attend; team rosters are posted on the PLL site in mid-April. Coach Pitch teams practice once a week and games are played on Saturday throughout the season.

• Spring: Coach Pitch teams practice once a week on Tuesday or Wednesday evening and meet each Saturday afternoon for a game.
• Summer: Coach Pitch teams meet each Wednesday evening during the season for practice and a game (one combined session).
• Fall: Coach Pitch teams practice once a week on Tuesday evening and meet each Saturday afternoon for games.

Machine Pitch: 7-year-olds (as of August 31, 2024 for fall 2023 season)
Machine Pitch builds off of the Coach Pitch program and hitters face more challenging pitching - balls are pitched using a mechanical pitching device. Players continue to further build their confidence, learn positioning, base running, and outs/strike outs are introduced. Machine Pitch is an instructional division – outs are recorded but game scores are not kept and there is not a winning or losing team. Every effort is made to form Machine Pitch teams based on the school players attend.

• Spring: Machine Pitch teams practice once a week on Friday evening and meet each Monday evening and Saturday afternoon for games.
• Summer: Machine Pitch teams meet each Tuesday evening for practice and a game (one combined session).
• Fall: Machine Pitch teams practice once a week on Wednesday evening and meet each Saturday afternoon for games.

Rookies/Minors Baseball: 8-10-year-olds (as of August 31, 2024 for fall 2023 season)
Player-pitch division - balls are pitched from a distance of 46' and players continue to develop the fundamentals of hitting and fielding. Limited base stealing, sliding, and more complex game situations are also taught for an overall more competitive experience. Umpires

• Spring: Prior to the spring season, Rookies players are evaluated for placement. To achieve competitively balanced teams, Rookies team managers form teams by way of a player draft. Teams practice once a week on Thursday evening and play two games per week on Thursday evening and Saturday afternoon; the season concludes with playoffs and league championship.
• Summer: Rookies/Minors teams play two games per week on Tuesday and Thursday evenings; there are no practices.
• Fall: Rookies/Minors teams practice once a week on Tuesday evening and play one game a week on Saturday morning.

Rookies/Minors Baseball: 8-10-year-olds (as of August 31, 2023 for spring season)
Minors builds off of the Rookies program and continues to focus on fundamentals and games progressively become more competitive as baseball and physical skill levels increase. 

• Spring: Prior to the spring season, Minors players are evaluated for placement. To achieve competitively balanced teams, Minors team managers form teams by way of a player draft. Minors teams practice once a week on Wednesday evening and play two games per week on Thursday evening and Saturday morning; the season concludes with playoffs and league championship.
• Summer: Minors teams play two games per week on Tuesday and Thursday evenings; there are no preactices.
• Fall: Rookies/Minors teams practice once a week on Tuesday evening and play one game a week on Saturday morning.

Majors Baseball: 11-12-year-olds (as of August 31, 2024 for fall 2023 season)
Majors baseball is the highest level played on a 46/60 field (46' pitching distance/60' between the bases). Catching and pitching begin to have more influence on the game and the pace of play. The uncaught third strike and infield fly rule are introduced, and players prepare for play on a 50/70 or 60/90 field.

• Spring: Prior to the spring season, Majors players are evaluated for placement. To achieve competitively balanced teams, Majors team managers form teams by way of a player draft. Majors teams practice once a week on Tuesday evening and play two games per week on Wednesday evening and Saturday morning; the season concludes with playoffs and league championship.
• Summer: Majors teams play two games per week on Monday and Wednesday evenings; there are no preactices.
• Fall: Majors teams practice once a week on Thursday evening and play one game a week on Saturday morning.

Intermediate Baseball: 12-13-year-olds (as of August 31, 2024 for fall 2023 season)
Intermediate baseball is played on a 50/70 field (50' pitching distance/70' between the bases) and games are 7 innings; this is a transitional step prior to playing on a 60/90 field. Pre-pitch leading/stealing is introduced at this level of play and balk rules are in effect. Intermediate team managers form teams.

• Spring: Intermediate teams practice once a week and play two games per week against teams from other local Little Leagues (this requires travel within Monroe County).
• Fall: Teams practice once a week and play a game each Saturday throughout the fall.

Juniors Baseball: 13-14-year-olds (as of August 31, 2024 for fall 2023 season)
Juniors baseball is played on a 60/90 field (60' pitching distance/90' between the bases) and players adjust to the field dimensions and the challenges that this poses.

• Spring: Juniors teams practice once a week and play two games per week against teams from other local Little Leagues (this requires travel within Monroe County). Schedules are developed with more games played after Memorial Day to better fit with scholastic programs. 
• Fall: Teams practice once a week and play a game each Saturday throughout the fall.

Seniors Baseball: 15-16-year-olds (as of August 31, 2024 for fall 2023 season)
Seniors baseball is played on a 60/90 field (60' pitching distance/90' between the bases). Seniors team managers form teams. 

• Spring: Seniors teams practice once a week and play two games per week throughout the spirng season against teams from other local Little Leagues (this requires travel within Monroe County). Schedules are developed with more games played after Memorial Day to better fit with scholastic programs. 
• Fall: Teams practice once a week and play a game each Saturday throughout the fall.

The PLL evaluates player’s skill/ability for our spring Rookies, Minors and Majors baseball program prior to placement and creating teams – our aim is to create balanced teams in each division. The evaluation is conducted in a is low-key, no pressure environment. 

This is not a tryout - no player gets cut and the PLL will provide all registered players with a place to participate.

For spring 2023, the evaluation will be held on Sunday, March 19th at Calkins Road Middle School; players should drop in when it’s convenient between the hours of 11:00am and 2:00pm. Each player should come in athletic attire with sneakers and bring their glove and bat (optional). We expect that it will take each player ~20 minutes to complete the evaluation once they begin.

Note: This player evaluation is for player’s who are registered for spring Rookies, Minors and Majors baseball who did not attend our fall player evaluation for our Pittsford Panthers travel baseball program. If your player attended an evaluation last fall, they do not need to attend the spring evaluation.
 

The Pittsford Little League is open to all age-eligible players who go to reside in or go to school in Pittsford or East Rochester, NY.
